The popularity of the Schnoodle has risen to new heights and international fame over the last few years. Their sweet disposition, health, allergy friendly non-shedding coats, and extreme intelligence make them one of the most sought-after new breeds of the new millennium. Internet exposure and media attention have created an interest in this little breed and an influx of 'new breeders' are popping up all over the internet. Many of these breeders are making inaccurate claims that are not only conflicting with what established breeders know to be true, but confusing as well. We hope to dispel some of the inaccuracy and educate you about these lovely dogs. Uptown Dogs is a leader in Schnoodle breeding and line development, as we have over 20 years experience in creating only the BEST QUALITY Schnoodle for a select few approved homes.

We hear reports of people meeting Schnoodles from other breeders that exhibit behaviors or a look that is not in line with our breeding program. We cannot comment either way on any dog not raised or bred by us, or our approved breeders.

Our darling Confetti Schnoodles are the perfect combination of qualities from the Schnauzer and Poodle; purposely combined to create a new breed that is a look, temperament and type that we feel is the ultimate companion. We have developed our own line of Schnoodles that have proven to be a delight to all that encounter these wonderful little dogs. Our Confetti Schnoodles are bred in 4 sizes; TOY, MINIATURE, STANDARD and GIANT. For centuries, people such as farmers, breeders, and horticulturists, have learned in breeding/pollinating one type or breed to another, it results in a healthier, hardier, and in some cases, a more beautiful breed. Cross-breeding is the same theory. Through careful combining of the genes of the preferred parent breeds, the results are amazing! You get the best of the breeds, and diminish any negative traits from either breed--increasing health and integrity.

Carefully planned breedings should be based on a close study of health,

temperament, and standard of each potential parent animal and subsequent offspring for several generations. Cross-breeding requires the study and knowledge of the pure breeds being used, and close record keeping of the puppies produced from each breeding. Any breeder who is not breeding for these purposes is not responsible. Uptown Dogs strives to improve our lines and create only the best quality offspring to contribute to our breeding program. We use animals of exceptional quality in temperament and standard in our breeding program. Our puppies come from excellent parentage. We raise our parent stock in our home where we can observe their development and consider them for breeding. We determine personality, temperament, and ability to produce the quality of puppies we want in our breeding program. If these dogs exhibit any inferior traits, they are not used for breeding. Our puppies have a very consistent appearance and personality----when you adopt an Uptown Dog's Confetti Schnoodle, you know what your puppy will grow up to look like and how it will act----we are very discriminating in our choices of parents. Read through our many letters from previous families to see the consistency of intelligence, personality and look from our breeding stock. We feel above all else, THIS fact separates a true breeder from the rest. Our goals are to create a new breed--the ultimate companion dog--- with traits that meet and exceed our standard and code of ethics.

The Uptown Dog's Schnoodle Personality and Temperament

The Confetti Schnoodle is extremely intelligent, affectionate, very loyal, and they are great with children. They are usually not a barky dog, but they can become active barkers, as with any breed, if left unattended or not trained to quiet.

Schnoodles are great watchdogs, letting you know when someone arrives, but usually quieting down right away with a quick command to be quiet. They make lovely travelers, too!

Schnoodles are great lap dogs, and make a wonderful companion. Schnoodles are great for active families and also are excellent at obedience and most dog sports. They are very easy going and versatile dogs with a desire to please their family. Schnoodles also make a wonderful therapy dog.

Schnoodles are excellent companion animals for home or apartment dwellers. They are very smart animals and enjoy having the opportunity to use their intelligence by learning tricks, playing games and participating in agility training. Schnoodles are very affectionate. They are energetic and playful, but this energy can be easily tamed through throwing a ball or going for a walk. Schnoodles are known for the "Schnoodle zoom" or "Schnoodle 500", wherein they run around the perimeter of rooms at high speeds. It is quite funny to watch, and families love seeing their little dog show off its speed! Schnoodles can be very athletic and make good companions for runners looking for a smaller dog, but they do not require running miles a day to keep them calm.

The Uptown Schnoodle Standard

A NOTE ABOUT SIZE:: These are the typical weights and heights within the size groups. Puppies can be bigger or smaller than expected, due to throwbacks in the gene pool of the parent breeds.
We do our best to determine sizes per the sizes of our parents and previous litters, but occasionally a Toy can result from Miniature parents, or Toys can produce Miniatures, Standards produce Miniatures or larger Standards. This is common in all breeds, and we cannot guarantee sizes.

TOY SCHNOODLE: Average weight: (6-14 lbs) 13" and under at shoulder

MINIATURE SCHNOODLE : Average weight: (12-24 lb) 12"-15" at shoulder
STANDARD SCHNOODLE: Average weight: (25-50 lbs) 15"-19" at shoulder
GIANT SCHNOODLE: Average weight: (55-75 lbs) 19"-24" at shoulder

Our puppies have the darling 'Teddy Bear' look that everyone loves, with expressive eyes, intelligent expression, square build, Full Tail (we do not mutilate our puppies) and friendly disposition .

Uptown Schnoodle Coat Types
There are three coat types within the Schnoodle standard. (The haircut of the adult Schnoodle can make it look different, ask us about haircut recommendations.) An example of each can be found in most litters. The easiest to keep groomed being the Straight coat, where the loose wavy and curly coats require more frequent brushing to prevent matting. Below are examples of the three coats types:

Allergy Friendly Non-Shedding Coats

Schnoodles are considered non-shedding dogs, making them an excellent consideration for people with allergies. They have a blend of hair from both the Poodle and Schnauzer, resulting in straight to soft wavy hair. NOTE: As we are evolving with our breeding program, we have improved coat quality and are finding a very soft wavy coat to be consistant in our newer litters with our Multi-Generation Confetti Schnoodles. This is exciting for our families and for us! A definite improvement in our breed, and a positive step toward breed advancement.

Fun Facts About the Uptown Schnoodle

These are the common traits that are typical of OUR unique line of Schnoodles. They all have very similar and definable traits that are consistent from litter to litter, and what we feel to be the standard of the IDEAL Schnoodle, bred by Uptown Dogs:

Schnoodle colors: cream, apricot, sable, phantom (black brown), black, Parti-Color, and our new Confetti coloration!

Extremely intelligent and intuitive. Our Schnoodles always graduate head of the class in their puppy kindergarten classes! (Which I highly recommend to all new families!)
Mellow and non-barky. Our Schnoodles tend to be very quiet and most families report that their dog is so quiet they rarely hear them bark. (Although without training and in certain environments ANY dog can learn bad habits. This is easily corrected with consistency in your training.)
They make great watch dogs and will alert you of new guests at the door.
They are extremely friendly with other dogs and people. Many families have told us that they are afraid their Schnoodle will be stolen as they make friends with strangers everywhere they go.
They use their paws as hands to hold and play with objects, even petting their owners. We have many pictures of our Schnoodles holding their stuffed toys to sleep with. Ahhh, so sweet!
Our Schnoodles love cats! This is a consistent report I hear back, and believe this is inherited from Toulouse"s line as he adores our cats. He pets them and can jump and pounce like a cat. I bet your Schnoodle will too!
Easily house broken with consistency.
Fun loving family dogs! Our Schnoodles are wonderful for families with young children, they are extremely gentle and loving with small children.
A lively burst of energy at one point in the day referred to as the "Schnoodle 500" wherein the dog will run around the house at high speeds. Very funny to see, and a show of the Schnoodle's happiness.
A great consideration for families with allergies; non-shedding and low maintenance coats.
Schnoodles love to perform and play games like fetch. I hear from many families who have taught their Schnoodle tricks that their dog will bring the toys to them as if asking to run through their repertoire.
Excel at agility sports and make wonderful Therapy Dogs. We even have a stunt dog in Los Angeles that can surf!
Many Schnoodles love the water and will enjoy a dip in the lake or a run through the sprinkler at home.
They are very intelligent and require stimulation. A bored or lonely Schnoodle can resort to digging or other destructive behavior. This is easily resolved with stimulating toys and companionship.
